Hurricane Hilary is heading for Southern California, putting areas in Riverside, and Orange counties and all of Los Angeles County under a tropical storm watch. Officials urge residents to keep an eye on emergency alerts over the weekend as the situation develops.
“A Tropical Storm Watch (Sunday-Monday) has been issued for Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands, Antelope Valley Foothills, San Gabriel Mountains, Interstate 5 Corridor, Santa Clarita Valley, and Highway 14 Corridor, as well as much of the southern coastal waters,” according to the National Weather Service.
L.A. County residents can sign up to receive emergency alerts by text, email, or phone call at ready.lacounty.gov.

For Orange County residents, head to AlertOC to sign up for emergency notifications.

The National Hurricane Center is also tracking the storm. The agency warns that "tropical storm conditions are possible on Sunday in portions of southern California," and rain is expected to continue into Monday.
