LAPD officers from the department's Olympic Division responded to a report of a kidnapping in the area of Seventh Street and Western Avenue at 2 a.m, police said.
The officers spotted a vehicle matching the description of the suspect's -- a blue Toyota Prius, according to Fox 11 -- and began pursuing the Prius. The suspect drove toward the 10 Freeway and at some point during the chase, the suspect let the victim out near Washington and Hauser boulevards, then abandoned the car.
Fox 11 reported several witnesses reported seeing the suspect running and later hiding in the surrounding neighborhood.
Police established a perimeter near Washington and Hauser and are searching the surrounding streets for the suspect.
