On Tuesday, President Donald Trump said that he would move the 2028 Olympics if he thought the city of Los Angeles “was not going to be prepared properly.”

His comments came after he said he could “take away” the 2026 FIFA World Cup from Boston, adding that if he felt someone was doing “a bad job” and if he felt “there’s unsafe conditions,” he’d call FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

KNX News’ Craig Fiegener spoke with councilmembers at L.A. City Hall about President Trump’s comments, with Councilmember Traci Park saying, “We’re fine.”

“The Olympics are going to be great,” she said. “We are moving full speed ahead. Nobody is gonna let this be a problem. We are taking all of these issues around public safety and security very, very seriously. We are well, well on our way, so I don't know what President Trump's talking about.”

Councilmember Adrin Nazarian said he believed the city was safe enough for the Olympics.

“As we demonstrated, the city did not even need the military or the National Guard to stay here in June,” he said.

In August, a White House task force was created for the 2028 Olympics.
