
LOS ANGELES (KNX) — Loyola Marymount University will set the stage Tuesday for the first debate of the year for Los Angeles mayoral candidates ahead of the election later this year.
"This in-person event will take place outdoors on the new Drollinger Family Stage at Lawton Plaza," LMU said on its event site. "Candidates will debate on the major issues facing Los Angeles and share their vision for the city's future."

Confirmed candidates include Rep. Karen Bass, L.A. City Attorney Mike Feuer, L.A. City Councilmembers Joe Buscaino and Kevin de León and Realtor Mel Wilson. Rick Caruso, who announced his entrance into the race last week, is not yet confirmed.
The debate will be moderated by Fernando Guerra, according to City News Service. Guerra is a professor of political science and chicana/o and Latina/o studies at LMU and director of the Thomas and Dorothy Leavey Center for the Study of Los Angeles.
Registration to attend the event is now closed, but it will be broadcast live at 6 p.m. Tuesday on Spectrum News 1.
