A law firm is suing the estate of the late billionaire financier Gary Winnick, alleging it is owed nearly $315,000 for legal services performed before the businessman died in 2023.

Winston & Strawn LLP's Los Angeles Superior Court breach-of-contract lawsuit maintains that Winnick and his businesses, Winnick & Co. and WCO Spectrum LLC, entered an agreement with the law firm for legal services in August 2022 and that the petitioners received no response when they asked for payment of the $313,570 allegedly due in April 2023.

A representative for the Winnick estate could not be immediately reached for comment on the suit brought Tuesday.

Winnick died in November 2023 at age 76 and his wife Karen, opened an estate in December of that year in probate court, where Winston & Strawn also has filed a creditor's claim, the suit states.

Winnick's son, Matthew Winnick, said in May of this year that he wanted to resolve the creditor's claim, but reneged in September and no money has been paid, according to the suit, which also seeks attorneys' fees.

Winnick & Company is a private equity firm and WCO Spectrum invests in wireless spectrum licenses in the U.S.
