Starting today, all California residents age 16 and over will be able to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
State data shows that Thursday's expansion of COVID-19 vaccine pool is likely to push California past the milestone of having half of its 16-and-older population either fully or partially vaccinated.
“Opening vaccine eligibility to all Angelenos who are 16 and older is a major milestone in our efforts to get more shots into more arms and defeat COVID-19 once and for all,” said Mayor Garcetti. “We urge patience as we continue to ramp up our operations, obtain more doses, and enter this new phase of our campaign to end the pandemic. But our commitment remains clear: as soon as vaccines are available, we are ready to administer them swiftly and safely.”
The city-run sites include Cal State LA, San Fernando Park, Hansen Dam, Crenshaw Christian Center, Lincoln Park, Pierce College, USC University Park, Los Angeles Southwest College, and Dodger Stadium. All sites will be open from Tuesday through Saturday between 8am and 4pm. Dodger Stadium will only be offering appointments until 1pm this week from Tuesday through Thursday to accommodate home games, although the site will remain open until 4pm.
This week, the city is expected to receive nearly 60,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine and 56,000 of Pfizer, and still has about 15,000 doses of Johnson and Johnson in its supply, according to the city press release.
On the city of LA Carbon Health vaccination website, there is a new drop down for "16 and older" to choose from as a category. You have to be a resident of LA County and have valid I.D. It looks as though the first available appointment can be April 13 or 14, Tuesday or Wednesday.
When it comes to vaccinating those 16 and older, the Pfizer vaccine has been authorized for 16 and older.
California and most counties will expand the eligibility for 16 and older on Thursday, April 15.
