Man killed in collision with garbage truck in Santa Clarita identified

A man who was killed in a collision involving a car and a trash truck in the Canyon Country area east of Santa Clarita was publicly identified Monday.

Alberto Hernandez, 21, died from blunt trauma in what the Medical Examiner's office said was an accident.

Paramedics were sent to the 17800 block of Soledad Canyon Road, north of the Santa Clarita River, about 8 a.m.  Friday, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

In addition to Hernandez's death, one person was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries, their condition not available.

The circumstances of the crash were under investigation.
