Officers began pursing the suspect, who was accused of driving a stolen work van, on streets in the downtown Los Angeles area around 8:30p.m. Monday shortly before he entered the Arroyo Seco Parkway in Chinatown.

As the driver approached the Avenue 43 exit on the northbound freeway, he stopped the van and began climbing out of the window and was struck by traffic on the opposite side of the freeway as he attempted to climb over the freeway, CHP Officer Sergio Garcia told City News Service.
