In an interview with KNX News’ Craig Fiegener, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass brushed off a comment that she could be arrested if she shows up at immigration raids.
The comment in question came from a Fox News interview with Tricia McLaughlin, the Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs for the Department of Homeland Security. During the interview, Charles Hurt asked McLaughlin about Bass “interfering with official federal officer proceedings” and if “you all hesitant to just go out and arrest her or has all of this behavior not reached that threshold yet?”
“We’re certainly keeping everything on the table, Charlie,” McLaughlin answered.
Bass said she’s not concerned about being arrested.
“Because I'm not going to break the law,” she said. “It's as simple as that.”
Bass also told Fiegener that there had been rumors for months about “military intervention in MacArthur Park” before the one that took place on Monday.
“Frankly, I didn't even want to believe that the federal government would do something like that,” she said. “We didn't know who was on those horses, who the masked men were this time. I went to see what was happening and obviously to talk to who was in charge to see what the mission was and when it was going to end.”

She also provided some details about the phone call with Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino.
“It wasn't clear though what the mission was because it was very difficult to hear,” she said. “What I thought I heard him say was the mission was to address crime.”
Bass added that as L.A.'s elected leader, she has a responsibility to show up at events like the one that happened on Monday.
