SANTA MONICA, Calif. (KNX) — The Seattle-based multinational technology corporation Microsoft is reportedly buying Santa Monica gaming company Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion.
According to The Los Angeles Times, the deal to purchase the makers of Call of Duty and Candy Crush will be all cash. Activision CEO Bobby Kotick, who has faced a year of scrutiny over allegations of staff misconduct and unequal pay, will retain his role.

On Monday, the company disclosed it had terminated “dozens” of executives following an internal investigation into claims of sexual harassment.
Shares of Activision rose roughly 31% on the stock market after news broke of the deal. According to CNBC, the purchase constitutes Microsoft’s largest acquisition to date after a 2016 purchase of LinkedIn for $26.2 billion.
