Multimillion-dollar jewelry heist in Downtown L.A.: Police investigate

A jewelry store in downtown Los Angeles was burglarized Monday, with the thieves escaping with millions of dollars worth of merchandise.

Officers responded around 10 a.m. to the store in the 500 block of South Broadway, although the burglary occurred overnight, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The son of the shop owner told ABC7 the culprits cut their way through a wall to gain access to the business, then stole merchandise worth as much as $20 million.

There was no immediate description available of any possible suspects.
