A 5.9 earthquake hit near the California-Nevada border on Thursday afternoon.
The Governor's Office of Emergency Services confirmed a magnitude 5.9 earthquake occurred near Markleeville in Alpine County and a few minutes later, a 4.8 quake struck near Farmington in San Joaquin County.
CAL OES also confirmed that there were no preliminary reports of damage or injuries and that they're working with local officials to make sure supplies and resources are given if necessary.

A magnitude 5.9 earthquake occurred near Markleeville in Alpine County.
A minute a minutes later a magnitude 4.8 m quake occurred near Farmington in San Joaquin County.
Caltrans District 9 tweeted that maintenance crews responded to reports of rockslides on U.S. 395 and SR 89 in Mono County. Traffic is being detoured from US 395 to State Route 182.
