Orange County is suing another nonprofit organization to retrieve millions of dollars that were allegedly misused.

Last week, the county filed a lawsuit against the Viet America Society, which received millions in pandemic relief funds to feed seniors and struggling families. The lawsuit alleges that at least $10.4 million was plundered to purchase five homes.

Rhiannon Do, an officer for the charity and the daughter of O.C. Supervisor Andrew Do, is one of the defendants in the suit.

Now, a second lawsuit has been filed against the nonprofit Hand to Hand, which Supervisor Katrina Foley says is linked to the Viet America Society.

“Not only are we concerned, but we have evidence to prove that the funds were not used as intended,” Foley told KNX News’ Nataly Tavidian.

Foley said they’re asking for a criminal investigation at the local, state, and federal level, since the county can only file a civil suit.
