SANTA ANA, Calif. (KNX) – Santa Ana Police Department announced one of their retired K9s has died, several years after retiring from the force.
“Puskas served as a #SantaAnaPD K9 for 7 years and spent his 2 1/2 years of retirement with his handler Corporal Galeana and his family,” the department wrote on Twitter.
According to Puska’s Instagram page, the dog was taken to the vet Friday evening and went into surgery, but did not survive.
“Not only was he my partner and protector, but he was also a helluva watchdog at home,” his owner wrote. “Puskas was one of the best police dogs out there, and we will miss him deeply.”
