Riverside County man arrested for alleged machete attack

A Perris man is in custody following an alleged machete attack that left anther injured on Monday.

The assault was reported at around 12:40 p.m. in the 17100 block of Hidalgo Drive in Perris, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. Deputies arrived on the scene to find a victim suffering from a machete womb to the arm.

The injury was moderate and treated at an area hospital. The victim is expected to recover.

The attacked, believed to be 40-year-old Loren Montoya, fled the scene before deputies arrived. They searched the surrounding neighborhood and located him in the 2200 block of Gavilan Road. Montoya was arrested without incident on suspicion fo assault with a deadly weapon and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center.
