Riverside driver dies after crashing car into power pole

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KNX) – A driver was killed after crashing their car into a power pole in Riverside Sunday morning.

Police and fire crews responded to the collision, which occurred at Van Buren Boulevard and Duncan Avenue just before 5 a.m., according to a Facebook post by the Riverside Police Department.

A preliminary investigation revealed a Kia Sedan was going north on Van Buren Boulevard when the driver lost control, causing the car to crash into a power pole.

Police said a 21-year-old was found dead. The second person in the car left before the police arrive.

The Riverside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating.
