Robbers broke into several Boyle Heights businesses early Monday, prompting a burglary investigation, police said.

Several businesses were broken into in the 3400 block of Whittier Boulevard, according to Los Angeles Police Department Officer Drake Madison.

The crime was reported just after 5 a.m., Madison said. It was unclear what, if anything, was taken.

According to a report from the scene, the small shopping plaza includes popular national pizza and sandwich shops and a smoke shop that all appeared to have been burglarized or at least vandalized.
