
LOS ANGELES (KNX) – A survey ranked Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District in the top-20 school districts in California, as well as one of the top-10 districts to teach in.
Niche, described by Santa Monica Mirror as a “national academic ranking service”, ranked the school district eighth in Los Angeles County and 18 in the state. It was one of 438 school districts included in the survey.
The study found the average graduation rate was 94%, with a 74% reading proficiency and a 61% math proficiency. The student-teacher ratio was 21 to one.
In the best places to teach California, the school district placed fifth out of 689 schools and placed ninth for best teachers in the state.
