Thousands of people rallied in front of City Hall in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon to show support for the Iranian people protesting the Islamic regime.
L.A. protesters want the son of the former Shah, Reza Pahlavi, who is an exile here in the U.S., to take over control of Iran.
KNX News’ Emily spoke with people at the protest, many of them have friends and family still in Iran.
“This is the last chance they have…and we want the world to know a lot of countries have been silent,” one woman said.
Some people say that not only are they not able to get a hold of their loved ones in Iran, they can't trust anything the Islamic regime is saying.
“My concern for the Iranian people is like this regime is capable of doing anything,” one man said. “They're not going to stop. They are massacring people. They say news sources say about 12,000 people, but the reality is, we heard about other sources… there are over 20,000 people being massacred.”
