The Los Angeles Police Department and the FBI are investigating how around $30 million was stolen from a Sylmar facility.

Law enforcement sources told the Los Angeles Times that it was one of the largest burglaries in Los Angeles’ history.

It happened on March 31. While law enforcement has confirmed what facility the burglary happened, KABC is reporting that it happened at the GardaWorld Facility.

The theft was not discovered until Monday.

Sources told the L.A. Times that the thieves got in through the roof, which is why none of the alarms were set off.

Paul Viollis, a security expert, told KNX News’ Jon Baird, that he believes it was an inside job.

“It really begs the question how many people from the inside were involved to provide information to the outside for the group to do what they did without showing any signs of a break in,” he said.

He added that it could take detectives a month or two to have something in the case pinned down.
