The sculptures were being kept in storage elsewhere in the building on North Richfield Rd. while the owner of a business remodeled his space. One sculpture is valued at $1.8 million, the other at $200,000.

Anaheim Police Sgt. Matt Sutter told KNX News’ Karen Adams it appears the thieves knew the pieces were there.

“This is a nondescript commercial office building. It's not like a museum or anything,” he said.

The crooks also must have used heavy equipment to steal the sculptures because of their size and weight.

“Anybody that wanted to steal something that size would definitely need a crew, probably a forklift, even a truck,” Sutter said. “It wouldn't be easy. It definitely took some effort.”

Sutter said the business owner believes the theft took place sometime between Saturday and Monday. The police are actively investigating the case.
