LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A 23-year-old man suspected of killing two people during a dispute in Valley Glen was being held Thursday on suspicion of murder and awaiting word on possible criminal charges.

Vahan Simonyan, who was also wounded in the Monday night shooting, was arrested Tuesday afternoon in connection with the deaths of Arkadi Simonyan, 44, and Mesrop Malkhasyan, 38, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

It was unclear if or how Vahan Simonyan and Arkadi Simonyan are related. All three men involved were North Hollywood residents, police said.

Vahan Simonyan was hospitalized following the shooting and is expected to survive. He was booked on suspicion of murder while still hospitalized, with bail set at $2 million, according to jail records.

The shooting was reported at about 10 p.m. Monday near a smoke shop at Coldwater Canyon Avenue and Victory Boulevard, police said.

According to the LAPD, the three men got into an altercation, during which two of them produced firearms and began shooting at each other, leaving all three with numerous gunshot wounds. Police said a preliminary investigation revealed that the shooting stemmed from an earlier business dispute.

Anyone with information about the case was urged to call the LAPD Valley Bureau homicide office at 818-374-9550, or 877-LAPD-247.
