OAKLAND, Calif. (KNX) — A pair of alpacas escaped their enclosure and were on the run through multiple Oakland neighborhoods over the weekend.

The animals, described as a “father and son pair” named Boogie and Woogie, stopped traffic as they ran through the area for more than two hours on Saturday morning.

Both Boogie and Woogie were ultimately captured in an area homeowner's yard. The homeowner contacted California Highway Patrol and Oakland animal control, which reunited the animals with their owner, Tobias Riday.

Tobias told ABC 7 Boogie and Woogie escaped after he inadvertently left the backyard gate unlocked.

Riday also said he hoped another alpaca owner might come forward and help connect Boogie — Woogie’s single dad — with a suitable mate.
