KNX News’ Margaret Carrero spoke to Tali Rosas and Chris Allison, the flight attendants, about what happened on the July 29 flight from Brownsville, Texas. Rosas said it all started when a customer rang the call light twice and the lead attendant ran down the aisle.

“That's when me and Chris immediately get up to go assess what is happening, and that is when we come across this customer who is unconscious,” she said. “We moved customers around so we can get better access to this customer. We're trying to wake him up, that's not happening.”

The lead flight attendant then checked for a pulse, but couldn’t find one, Rosas said. She was sent to get the medical equipment and communicate to the flight deck while Allison began CPR.

As soon as the plane landed at Hollywood Burbank airport, the flight attendants were met by airport firefighters. The passenger, who suffered a heart attack, was taken to the hospital and was able to walk out two weeks after the incident.

“We're just grateful that he's okay and he's back with his family and very honored for this award,” Rosas said.

The flight's captain, airport firefighters, and Burbank fire paramedics also received the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority's Life-Saving Award.
