According to a CBS News Poll on Sunday, overall, 75 percent of Americans felt that the jury reached the correct verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial versus 25 percent who felt it was wrong.
When broken down by party lines, almost half of Republicans (46 percent) believed that think the jury reached the wrong decision in the Derek Chauvin trial verdict.
Meanwhile, 54 percent of Republicans felt the jury came to the right conclusion that Chauvin was guilty of George Floyd's death last May. Chauvin was found guilty on all counts. Meanwhile, 90 percent of Democrats felt the verdict was correct.
When broken down by race, 70 percent of white Americans agreed with 93 percent of Black Americans that the verdict was correct.
Moreover, today, more Americans agree than disagree with the ideas expressed by the Black Lives Matter movement, the story reported.
Black Americans, Democrats and younger people are particularly likely to agree, according to the CBS News Poll.
According to CBS News, This CBS News survey was conducted by YouGov using a nationally representative sample of 2,527 U.S. residents interviewed between April 21-24, 2021. This sample was weighted according to gender, age, race and education based on the American Community Survey, conducted by the U.S. Bureau of the Census, as well as the 2020 presidential vote and registration status. The margin of error is ± 2.3 points.
