
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Over 20 people on an NYPD bus with officers sent to Washington, D.C. for the inauguration had to quarantine after one of them tested positive for the coronavirus.
According to police, the positive officer "felt fine" and had no symptoms over the weekend.
The officer arrived Monday and noticed he had no sense of taste the following day.
He took a rapid test and was informed by his doctor that he had tested positive for the virus, NYPD told 1010 WINS.
The bus had 21 people including the driver, officials said.
Two additional people, who were roommates of officers on the bus were quarantined.
Rapid tests were given to all on the bus, the two roommates and one additional person that was on the bus.
So far two people have tested positive and are being quarantined at a hotel.
Three other buses to the nation’s capital to help with security at the inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. It didn’t appear those officers were impacted by the positive test.
