In a world obsessed with social media, we're all doing so much to make the experience as safe as possible without realizing the heart of the problem.

Twitter has rolled out a new feature they are calling "soft blocking," where you will be allowed to remove someone you follow without them being notified. A soft block is different from a block because it allows a user to still see your tweets and direct message you, but they will not be able to see your tweets on their feed.

According to The Verge, this feature will be most useful to those who "don’t want to do a full-on block but want to create some space from another user."

This is the social media app's latest attempt to give user's more ability to help curb the rampant abuse and harassment experienced on the app.

This past September, Twitter began testing a new feature that temporarily autoblocks abusive accounts, though it’s not certain when this feature will be widely available to all users.
