FREMONT (KNX) — A vehicle startup’s testing permit was suspended after its driverless car got into a collision in Fremont.

Pony.ai, which is based in both China and in Silicon Valley, reported the crash to the DMV, The Verge reported.

The collision occurred Oct. 28 just before 11 a.m., according to the DMV report. The car was doing a left lane change when it crashed into a center divider and traffic sign in Fremont Boulevard. There was “moderate damage” to the front of the car.

Fremont police responded to the crash.

The company said it worked with officers to resolve the crash related to the damaged sign.

Pony.ai was one of the 55 companies allowed to test driverless cars in the state of California, but after the crash the company had their permit suspended.

The company told the Verge it is launching its own investigation into the collision.
