Four men arrested in San Diego Zoo ride shutdown identified as Marines

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (KNX) - The four men arrested on suspicion of vandalizing the San Diego Zoo’s Skyfari Aerial Tram were revealed to be U.S. Marines.

The men were identified as Sgt. Jacob Dean Bauer, LCpl. Brayden Stone Posey, Cpl. Brandon Gregory Cook and LCpl. Marquette Alexander Williams, according to FOX 5.

Major Mason Englehart, director of communication strategy and operations for the aviation unit, told the outlet the men are from the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar.

“Anyone found in violation of law or directive will be held appropriately accountable,” he said. This behavior is contrary to our core values and 3rd MAW is conducting an investigation into the incident.”

On Saturday, the Skyfari Aerial Tram shut down for up to two hours, leaving passengers stranded. A spokesperson for the zoo claimed the four men caused the shut down by “rocking back and forth” on the ride.

San Diego Fire-Rescue crews rescued over 100 passengers. No injuries were reported.
