SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – A video of a San Francisco gallery owner spraying a homeless woman with a garden hose has gone viral.

The video has been viewed over ten million times.

The short clip posted on social media shows Collier Gwin, the owner of Foster Gwin Gallery on Montgomery Street, spraying a homeless woman with water when she refuses to leave the sidewalk in front of his store.

Gwin said what the video doesn't show are the countless times he's tried to help the woman in the past. "I did put her in front of my door when the storms were coming and let her stay there. Nobody else offered that," he said. "I did come down here constantly and interact with social services trying to get her a psychiatric evaluation."

But regardless of what he's done to help the woman in the past, Gwin said he understands the indelible power of social media, and the only thing that stands out is a San Francisco business owner spraying water on a homeless person.

"The one thing that I did that was so wrong is that when I tried to get her to move, tried to help her move her stuff and she didn't, I sort of lost it and I shot water on her and I shouldn't have done that," he said.
