Smoke from Southern California fires result in air quality warning for Bay Area

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District has issued an Air Quality Advisory for Friday and Saturday due to wildfire smoke which is expected to linger into the region.

Smoke from various blazes in Southern and Central California are forecasted to produce "smoky and hazy skies" over most of the Bay Area.

The agency tweeted that air quality should be "good" in the South Central Bay, however all other regions throughout the Bay Area are predicted to rise into the "moderate" category.

Pollutions levels are not expected to exceed federal health standards, which would prompt a Spare the Air Alert.

Under Air Quality Advisories, the agency recommends that elderly persons, children and individuals with respiratory illnesses avoid exposure to outside air as much as possible.
