DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Both American Airlines and its flight attendants are criticizing a skit that portrayed flight attendants singing to a passenger at a home in Dallas over the weekend. Someone posted the video online, showing four women in flight attendants' uniforms dancing around the man portraying an Executive Platinum customer and singing, "Big Spender."
The skit was performed during a private fundraiser at a home in Dallas, according to the Association of Professional Flight Attendants. The president of the union, Lori Bassani, says she wants to know if American was involved in production of the skit.
Bassani said the union would not tolerate "being objectified in a sexist manner."
American says it did not approve the program and was not consulted ahead of time.
After the video was tweeted, American sent an email to employees, reading, "What was portrayed in the skit was not sanctioned by the airline and is not representative of the 27,000 professional flight attendants who take great care of millions of customers each year.
"To be clear, we are as upset as many of you are with the video. We have been in touch with APFA and several flight attendants since early this morning and we all share the same concerns."
Forbes is reporting the four women are current flight attendants.
