Fort Worth fire arms dealer RW Arms says it had to destroy 72,000, 400 of the devices that allow semi automatic rifles to fire continuously. Attorney Ethan Flint says "We're simply asking that the government pay those individuals who lawfully owned these stocks for the fair market value of those stocks. Simple as that."
He says says this is a violation of the fifth amendment which prohibits the government from seizing property.
"The government taking property is usually through thingsike eminent domain, a railroad comes through and people's property is taken. We very seldom have regulations that have the effect of taking people's property, and that's what's happened here."
RW Arms joins a Minnesota retailer, The Modern Sportsman, in the lawsuit. Flint says some of the stocks were collectors items, and the total value could be around 20 million dollars
