DALLAS (KRLD) - The warrant issued for former Cowboy Josh Brent has been withdrawn.
A warrant was issued for Brent for probation violation following his arrested in Coppell last week on charges of public intoxication and resisting arrest.
The former Cowboy was convicted of intoxication manslaughter in 2013 and sentenced to 180 days in jail and 10 years probation.
Brent appeared in court Monday and the warrant for his probation violation was withdrawn.
Dallas defense attorney Toby Shook who is not connected with the case says a settlement could be in the works.
"Many times in these cases, the judge will say this guy has a problem, its all alcohol based. If the DA is on board they may put him in a treatment center just to try to get him back on track," he says.
The judge hearing Brent's case also asked the DA in Travis County to appoint a prosecutor to handle Brent's probation revocation case.
The Dallas County DAs office recused themselves from handling Brent's case because first assistant Kevin Brooks was actually a part of Brent's defense team.
