A woman who lives outside Paris went showed up at the city's animal shelter with a box of kitten she said she found in her greenhouse.

Paris texas shelter rescue coordinator Stepanie Coorely says "she brings the box in, and it's nothing you're expecting to see. You're expecting to see five or six kittens. And there were over 30 kittens in the box, and all you see is this pool of little black heads poking up in this big box."

She says the final head count was 35 and all kittens, no mother cats.

She adds the lady who brought them is says she's gone from home a lot, and it's likely five or six mama cats gave birth around the same time. The kitten are around the same age, and had the same black and white color patterns, so they came from the same colony and the same group of males as all the kittens are black and white "tuxedo" cats.

While she says there's nothing cuter than a kitten, "there's nothing more heartbreaking than seeing a kitten in need."

She says when you hear about 'kitten season,' it's a direct result of people not spaying and neutering their pets. "There are a lot of misconceptions that a mom needs to have at least one litter or they can't get fixed until they are six months old or have had one heat cycle.

These lucky kittens have been sent to seven North Texas area rescues agencies.
