DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Child endangerment charges have been dropped against Sini Mathews in the death of Sherin Mathews. Court papers say Dallas County prosecutors have dropped their child endangerment charge against Sini Mathews. She is the adoptive mother of Sherin Mathews.

The District Attorney’s Office is dismissing the case against Sini due to the determination there is not enough prima facie evidence to proceed with the allegations in the indictment beyond a reasonable doubt, according to a release.

Sherin disappeared in October of 2017. Her body was found nearly three weeks later in a Richardson culvert.

Richardson police released a statement Friday afternoon after the charges were dropped against Mathews, saying they were "disappointed with this turn of events," and vowed to continue their work to bring Sherin Mathews justice.

The way the dismissal is worded, prosecutors do not believe they can prove the charge beyond a reasonable doubt, but there is room to refile at a later date.

Her husband, Wesley Mathews, remains in jail on $1 million bond.
