DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Bitter-cold temperatures are making an appearance this week in North Texas.

Earlier this month, North Texas has seen the coldest morning since last February. Temperatures fell into the upper teens to low 20s with wind chills in the single digits. Another cold front is expected to hit this Monday with even colder temperatures.

While keeping yourself, pets and your water pipes protected from the cold is important there is also another area of concern that is often overlooked; plants.

Below are some tips:

- Anything you've recently planted will need to be protected.

- First water those plants, especially the ones in containers, then cover them with an old blanket or some burlap, that helps keep the heat in.

- If possible, move whatever plants you can indoors, even if it's just into the garage, that will give them a little extra protect from the frigid weather.
