DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - The new teen curfew in the city of Dallas goes into effect today.
According to the new ordinance, people younger than 17-years-old cannot be outside without a parent between the hours of 11 :00 p.m. amd 6:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from midnight to 6:00 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. They also can not be out between 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on school days.
There are some exceptions.
The Dallas City Council approved the new curfew last week after allowing the old ordinance to expire in January.
The new curfew requires police to bring kids who break the curfew home and only issue a citiation as a last resort.
