AUSTIN (1080 KRLD) - Texas State Representative Matt Krause's bill making it legal for kids under 18 to set up lemonade stands without fear of regulation has been overwhelmingly passed by the Texas House.
Krause told lawmakers on Tuesday his bill would clear a path for young lemonade entrepreneurs. "Today is lemonade freedom day in the House. House Bill 234 would ensure that anyone under the age of 18 is free from any kind of fine, fee or regulation when they want to start those first businesses."
Before passage of the bill State Representative Mayes Middleton's amendment expanded its scope "by allowing children's lemonade stands in public parks. This amendment also prevents property owner associations from making or enforcing rules that prohibit lemonade stands."
The Legislation is now heading to the State Senate.
