DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - More cities across north Texas are shutting down their red light camera programs, now that Governor Abbott has signed a measure banning those cameras.

Police in Haltom City say the last day for tickets under their program was May 24th. Their contract with their camera vendor, Redflex, was set to run through 2027.

The new state law banning the cameras does allow cities to keep issuing citations until their contract with the camera company expires, but Haltom City Police say their contract with Redflex has been cancelled.

The last day for red light cameras in Grand Prairie was May 31st. The cameras have not been physically removed but they are not active.

Police in Frisco also say they have shut off their red light cameras.

The Frisco Police Department says violations that are "currently queued" are being dismissed.
