DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - A problem with AT&T wireless service kept customers across the country from being able to call 911 Tuesday morning.
Police and fire departments across North Texas started posting about the outage around 6:30 a.m.
Tarrant County 911 says call centers were all still working, but people using AT&T cell service were not able to get through. Police and fire departments were posting non-emergency numbers and encouraging people to use them instead.
The outage only affected AT&T wireless customers. People with other carriers and AT&T landline service were able to reach 911.
AT&T says the problem was repaired about 8:15 a.m.
"Earlier this morning some wireless customers may have been unable to connect to 911. This has been resolved and we apologize to anyone who was affected," the company wrote in a statement.
AT&T has not said what may have led to the outage.
