A second video was posted on social media Sunday, showing what happened before the high school boys' encounter with Native American activist, Nathan Phillips, at the Lincoln Memorial on Friday where the March For Life was taking place.
The first video shows high school students in Make America Great Again hats and shirts mocking a Native American elder.
The newly released video shows another group taunting the students from Covington Catholic High School in Kentucky with vulgar language. The group of men, who identify as members of the Hebrew Israelites, also shouted racist slurs at participants of the Indigenous Peoples Rally that was happening and other passersby.
In a statement, from Nick Sandmann, Covington Catholic High School junior, he said he and others began chanting to drown out what they were hearing from the Hebrew Isrealite group.
"The protestor everyone has seen in the video began playing his drum as he waded into the crowd, which parted for him. I did not see anyone try to block his path. He locked eyes with me and approached me, coming within inches of my face. He played his drum the entire time he was in my face," Sandmann said in his statement.
"I never interacted with this protestor. I did not speak to him. I did not make any hand gestures or other aggressive moves. To be honest, I was startled and confused as to why he had approached me. We had already been yelled at by another group of protestors, and when the second group approached I was worried that a situation was getting out of control where adults were attempting to provoke teenagers."
Phillips said he thought he had to do something to protect the students from the third group, so he stepped forward.
