Alligator Killed At North Texas Lake

Lake Forth PD

LAKE WORTH (KRLD) - Game wardens are looking for the apparent poacher who killed an alligator last week at Lake Worth, possibly taking the tail as a trophy.

According to Texas Parks & Wildlife, the alligator was killed on or about August 1 near the mouth of the West Fork of the Trinity River. The carcass was found floating in Lake Worth. The gator's tail had been removed.

Game Warden Capt. Cliff Swofford said authorities had little more information in the case. They hope to receive tips that lead to the identification and arrest of the suspect.

A reward up to $1,000 is offered in the case.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Operation Game Thief hotline at 1-800-792-GAME.
