Brandon McCall Guilty Of Capital Murder In Killing Of Richardson Police Officer

MCKINNEY (1080 KRLD) - Brandon McCall has been found guilty of capital murder killing a Richardson police officer two years ago. 

26-year old McCall  was found guilty on Wednesday for the February 2018 shooting death of Richardson Police Officer David Sherrard and for the resident of the apartment where the shooting happened, Rene Gamez.

Officer David Sherrard was fatally shot at the beginning of an hours-long police standoff in the apartment of McCall's friend.

McCall was also indicted on 7 counts of Aggravated Assault of a Public Servant for each of the police officers who took fire at the scene.

The punishment phase of the trial is to take place next week. 

Collin County jury has found 29-year old Brandon McCall guilty of capital murder in the Feb, 2018 shooting death of Richardson Police Officer David Sherrard. The sentencing hearing will not happen until next week. The state will seek the death penalty #McCallTrial
