Firefighters in Grand Prairie are currently working a large fire at a warehouse not far from the President George Bush Turnpike.
The fire broke out shortly after midnight and immediately went to 3 alarms. The fire has been buring for hours. There are no reports of injuries.
Flames and smoke were seen for miles around as the fire spread through the sprawling Poly America plastics plant on Marshall Street near Highway 161.
The fire has threatened nearby high-tension power lines which, if they toppled, would cause wide-spread power outages.
Specialized equipment was brought in from DFW Aiport to help in the battle.
The Poly America complex has many big trailers parked along with numerous freight cars on the adjacent railroad tracks. All of them are threatend by the flames.
