DALLAS (1080 KRLD)- With state education officials delaying the release of their official recommendations for reopening schools in the fall, the Dallas Independent School District is among many across Texas that are stuck in a holding pattern.

Dallas ISD Supt. Dr. Michael Hinojosa tells KRLD News he got some, but not all, of the information he needed in a Tuesday conference call with Texas Education Commissioner Mike Morath.  Meanwhile, the superintendent and his staff are tasked with moving forward to build a plan the district hopes will be approved.  Dr. Hinojosa said he hopes officials at the state level will give local districts significant leeway to set their own rules for the 2020-21 school year.

Dr. Hinojosa also said he has heard from a lot more concerned Dallas ISD parents this week.  He talked Wednesday afternoon with KRLD's Chris Sommer.
