DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Drink and drive this weekend and Dallas police say you might start the New Year off in jail.

This weekend folks are celebrating the start of a new year and an increase in DWI cases is to be expected.

The Dallas Police Department wants everyone to think twice before driving while intoxicated.

Today through January 2nd, police are implementing a No Refusal DWI Initiative, which means if you're arrested for DWI, you can't refuse a breathalizer or a blood test.

If you try, officers will get a warrant for your blood, and you'll get tested anyway.

Police say they want everyone to be safe and smart on New Year's, and start 2020 off the right way.
