Luallen says there has been an increase in daily visitation at the park, despite the State Fair being canceled and other events postponed. He says the over 270 acres provides plenty of space for social distancing for the multiple projects planned.

Some of the activities for the volunteer day include general pick up, painting, and planting. They welcome any businesses or volunteer organizations to sign up.

According to their website, in order to ensure volunteer safety, they will limit the number of volunteers and separate volunteer groups into socially-distanced clusters to avoid large gatherings or crowding.

Volunteers will be provided with masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer, as well as bottled water and refreshments.

The event will happen on Saturday, September 12th, and starts at 8 a.m.

There will be a “rain-day” in place in case of inclement weather.
