DALLAS (KRLD) - Former Dallas Police Chief David Brown has been sworn-in as the new Chicago Police Superintendent. He was nominated to that position by Chicago's Mayor earlier this month and confirmed by a unanimous vote of the Chicago City Council today.
"We are not only getting a public servant of the highest order, we are also getting a man whose values and own lived experience make him ideally suited for the long-term challenges we are working to solve," said Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot.
"I'm extremely honored. I'm extremely humbled," Superintendent Brown said, "and I'm very excited for this great opportunity to lead the Chicago Police Department and the brave men and women of the police department."
Brown was the Chief of the Dallas Police Department from 2010 to 2016. He says he wants Chicago to have "the lowest murders on record, the lowest number of shootings on record, and the highest level of trust in its officers from its residents."
