FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - Officials with the Fort Worth ISD were put on the hot seat during a virtual town hall meeting last night.
What are they doing to prepare for the school year during the ongoing pandemic? How will students be kept safe? Will online learning still be an option? These were the type of questions coming at district officials from concerned parents and teachers.
The meeting was originally meant to be about race, but the topic quickly changed to COVID-19.
"Teachers are notorious for going to school sick," said one woman.
"We're highly anxious here," said another.
Superintendent Dr. Kent Scribner says the plan right now is to let students come to school in person when the school year begins in August. But, he says that plan is not set in stone.
"A lot can change between now and August 17," Scribner said. "The current spike in cases might result in us needing to change our plans."
School leaders are planning to talk to state officials today for more guidance on how to move forward.
